25 ex-users complete a 6-month detox in the town of NoCot

CITY OF COTABATO – Twenty-five former addicts completed a six-month Community Drug Rehabilitation Program (CBRP) in Pigcawayan, north Cotabato on Friday.

Pigcawayan Mayor Jean Dino Roquero said the rehabilitation of the 25 successful CBRP graduates began in March this year under the close watch and supervision of barangay officials and their respective families.

CBRP is a general approach to the rehabilitation of people who have used drugs (PWUD), aimed at focusing on healing body, mind and soul through counseling and other therapeutic sessions. by the barangays, under the supervision of the municipal government.

“Over the past six months, drug addicts in rehabilitation have benefited from one-on-one counseling, interpersonal skills training, behavioral programs and advocacy work, among others,” Roquero said in a statement on Saturday.

In addition, each of the PWUDs received 25 kg. of rice from the municipal government and PHP 3,000 from the Department of Social Protection and Development 12 (Soccsksargen).

He said that a supportive after-care program is also provided to reformed drug addicts to ensure that they will never revert to their past habits.

Village officials and respective PWUD families will continue to work hand-in-hand to monitor the progress of program graduates over the next six months, Roquero said. (ANP)
