Alcoholic son kills dad for refusing money to buy booze: police

A 70-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death by his alcoholic son in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, for denying him money to buy alcohol, police said on Monday.

The incident happened in Gyanmajra village under the district’s Charthawal police station where a furious Amardeep attacked his father Gulab Singh and beat him to death, station officer Gyaneshvar Bodh said.

After killing his father, he locked the body inside the house and fled his home, SHO said, adding that after learning of the incident, police rushed to the village and sent the body for an autopsy.

The SHO said villagers told police that Amardeep was living with his father as his wife left him due to his alcohol addiction and that his brothers were also living elsewhere in the state to earn a living. .

Amardeep used to constantly harass him and often fight with him for money to buy alcohol, villagers told police, SHO said, adding that police had registered a case of murder against Amardeep and launched a manhunt against him.
