Alex Bregman is approaching a minor league rehab mission “very soon” and it seems more likely that could include a trip home.

“Everything is ahead of schedule right now,” Bregman said ahead of Saturday’s 1-0 loss to the Yankees. “It’s kind of a moving target. We hope here in the next few days.

The Sugar Land Class AAA Skeeters begin a six-game trip to Albuquerque against the Isotopes on July 15. Bregman said returning to his hometown “seems more and more realistic every day.”

Bregman hasn’t played at Albuquerque since his high school state championship tournament. He missed the trip while in the AAA Fresno class in 2016. Bregman’s father’s law firm even advertises Isotopes Park cup holders.

“He is hoping everything goes as planned,” Bregman said. “He has about 300 buddies who will be there.”

Bregman has missed 22 games since stretching his left quad on June 16 against the Texas Rangers. He trained at batting before the game and infield during that homestand while continuing to increase his run.
