Counseling accused persons arrested in a drug case is a general practice of the NCB. Those first caught in a drug affair or showing symptoms of addiction are counseled
Aryan, the son of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, during his advice to the Narcotics Control Bureau (BNC) office, told officers that from now on he would work for the company and devote himself to the country and the poor.
Khan was counseled along with the other seven people arrested with him earlier this month in the cruise drug seizure case.
Counseling accused persons arrested in a drug case is a general practice of the NCB. Those first caught in a drug case or showing symptoms of drug addiction are offered counseling after the interrogation is completed.
For advice, BCN agents call on community leaders, religious preachers or other respectable figures in society. The practice is undertaken to motivate and encourage an addict to quit the addiction, NCB said.
“During the consultation, he [Khan] said he would work for the company now and be dedicated to serving the country and the underprivileged, ”one BCN officer said, requesting anonymity for his name.
Khan is currently being held at Arthur Road Prison in connection with the alleged seizure of prohibited drugs from a cruise ship off the coast of Mumbai on October 3.
He was arrested by the BCN under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS). NDPS Special Court Judge VV Patil will issue the order on his bail application on October 20.
