Astros right-hander Zack Greinke, who was named to the injured list with neck pain on September 21, made an appearance in rehab with the Sugar Land Skeeters on Thursday night at Constellation Field.

A debutant against the Round Rock Express, Greinke threw 34 shots in two scoreless innings, allowing a hit and striking out three.

It has become increasingly likely that Greinke will come out of the box for the Astros in the playoffs. In his last three major tournament appearances, including two this month, he’s allowed a total of 19 points (won 18) in 13 innings for a 12.46 ERA.

A passage on the COVID-19 injured list prevented it from launching between August 29 and September 14.
