CM Seeks Cooperation of Lawmakers to Eliminate Drug Abuse in Tamil Nadu

Tamil Nadu’s Chief Minister, MP Stalin, on Friday called on state lawmakers to lend their full cooperation to government initiatives aimed at eradicating drug addiction.

Drug abuse is a threat to society and must be completely eliminated, he said.

In a letter to lawmakers, the Chief Minister highlighted the harms of drug addiction and sought the support of MPs for the government to effectively tackle this menace.

“It is the most important duty of government to raise awareness of the dangers of drug addiction. We have a duty to prevent people, especially young people, from becoming addicted,” he said.

As part of a statewide program, a drug abuse awareness day has been scheduled to be observed on Aug. 11, he said in a statement here.

MPs should without fail participate in outreach programs in their respective Assembly constituencies, the Chief Minister has urged.
