Dak Prescott is continuing his rehab following that horrific season-ending ankle injury during the 2020 season, and it looks like he’s making significant strides in his recovery. Speaking to reporters at a charity event where the Cowboys quarterback delivered meals to the homeless, Prescott gave an encouraging update on his situation as he prepares for the start of the season 2021.

“I’m close. I can go play in a game now and in my head be very, very successful,” Prescott said, via official website of the team. “There’s no question that when I need to be successful and have to do what it takes to be on the pitch, I’m going to do just that and the time is right.”

Of course, this is a fantastic development for Prescott and Dallas’ prospects to play in the NFC East this coming season. Although Prescott has not revealed a definitive schedule for his return to the field, Patrik Walker, a CBS Sports Cowboys insider, previously reported that the two-time Pro Bowl quarterback was one of the many Cowboys in the team building up. their strength and conditioning work leading up to the OTAs, which will occur in the coming weeks.

Understandably, the Cowboys are unlikely to dwell on the issue with Prescott as to what he will be allowed to do once he receives medical clearance from the medics and is able to rejoin his teammates. in the field. That said, Prescott has been seen exercising recently and Walker reported on April 7 that there had been no setback with his surgically repaired ankle, so things are certainly going in the right direction.

Not only has the 27-year-old been able to make positive progress in his rehab, but the Cowboys have shown immense faith that he will be able to regain his elite status by handing him that long-awaited contract extension early. March. This mega-deal will net Prescott $ 160 million ($ 126 million guaranteed and a signing bonus of $ 66 million) over the next four seasons. With Dallas spending that kind of dough, they certainly expect Prescott to be able to put that injury in his rearview mirror, which he seems to be doing well.
