DeGrom 3 no-hit innings with 8 strikeouts out of rehab

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) – New York ace Jacob DeGrom struck out eight goals and didn’t walk in three innings without a hitting during an injury rehab outing for the St. Lucia Mets at the Palm Beach Cardinals Thursday night in the Low-A Southeast. League.

DeGrom threw 30 of 41 shots for strikes in his first game since May 9. He put out his last six batters.

Masyn Winn was the only hitter to hit, leading the first with a Grounder that second baseman Jimmy Titus played badly for a mistake.

DeGrom was pulled out of his May 9 outing against Arizona after five innings due to strain on the right side.

The 32-year-old right-hander is a two-time NL Cy Young Award winner and is 3-2 with a 0.68 ERA in six starts for the Mets this season with 65 strikeouts and seven steps in 40 innings.

A day earlier, Mets right-hander Noah Syndergaard allowed a scoreless four-innings hit against Palm Beach in his first game since Tommy John’s surgery on March 26 of last year.
