Astros left-hander Framber Valdez pitched four scoreless innings in his second start in rehab for the AAA Sugar Land Class Skeeters on Sunday night.

Valdez, who broke a finger in spring practice, allowed two hits and two marches in Sugar Land’s 7-2 win over the El Paso Chihuahuas at Constellation Field. He took out two.

Southpaw Blake Taylor made his first appearance in rehab for Sugar Land. The reliever, who has been on the injured list since April 17 with a sprained right ankle, threw 17 pitches in a scoreless inning, allowing a hit.

Valdez’s control was not what it was when he left before. On Sunday, only 29 of its 54 pitches were strikes. On Monday, he threw 38 of 47 strikes in a three-innings stint at Round Rock, although he allowed up five runs (one earned) and seven hits in that game.

Valdez is set to join the Astros in June. They’re expected to build up his pitch count with another rehab start or two.
