The Fredericksburg Nationals roster underwent a major overhaul on Tuesday.
Left-handed pitcher Seth Romero and infielder Jackson Cluff have joined the FredNats in rehabilitation. Meanwhile, wide receiver Allan BerrÃos was promoted to Double-A Harrisburg; wide receiver Mason Doolittle has joined the FredNats roster and infielder Leandro Emiliani has been sent to the FCL Nationals for a rehab mission.
Romero, 25, started the series opener on Tuesday for the FredNats against the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers. Houston’s 2017 first-round pick made his Washington Nationals debut on August 13, 2020 and spent time in Fredericksburg at the alternative training site in 2020 and 2021. He started the minor league season on the injured roster for Triple- A Rochester with a rib injury, and began his rehab mission by allowing two runs on three hits in 1 2/3 innings in a start for the FCL Nationals on July 1. He is the No. 18 hope in the organization of nationals according to Pipeline MLB.
Cluff, 24, was a 2019 sixth-round selection from Brigham Young University. He played nine games with Double-A Harrisburg to start the season before being put on the injured list on May 15 with a thumb injury.
BerrÃos, 23, hit 0.186 in 18 games for the FredNats. The Mayagüez, Puerto Rico native becomes the first Fredericksburg player to be promoted directly to Double-A.
