The rap star’s mother and friend have revealed that Juice WRLD is going to get rid of his drugs before they tragically take his life.
Rapper Juice WRLD had agreed to enter rehab to overcome his drug problems just a week before his untimely death.
The 21-year-old rapper died of an accidental overdose on December 8, 2019.
Although the news of his death devastated those close to him, they weren’t entirely surprised to find out it was related to prescription drugs.
In a new article for GQ magazine, rapper friend and longtime collaborator Max Lord revealed that members of Juice’s inner circle had organized an intervention for the besieged MC in the days leading up to his disappearance.
“We had just broken down a lot of barriers with him,” said Max Lord. “I and a few other people had come up to him in tears, like, ‘We are worried about you, and we are afraid of losing you if you keep these habits. And we have to do something. And he accepted (sic).
Juice WRLD was scheduled to check in at an undisclosed facility on December 22.
“It was the earliest they were available to bring him in,” Lord revealed. “It hurts. It really hurts.”
And the rapper’s mother, Carmela Wallace, did not need confirmation from coroners regarding the cause of her son’s death.
“Before the tests even came back, I knew what (he died),” she added. “And I made the decision early on not to hide it. I want people to know the seriousness of it. “
Wallace then launched the Live Free 999 Foundation four months later to provide support to young people struggling with mental health issues.
