Luis Diaz shares his latest rehab, with a wordless Instagram post

Liverpool striker Luis Diaz continues his recovery from injury by working out his legs in the gym.

Diaz has been missing since injuring his knee against Arsenal three weeks ago. No specific timetable has been set for his return, but he will be out at least after the World Cup.

Now, the Colombian striker has taken to his Instagram Stories to post an update for Liverpool fans.

With a heavy bandage around his left knee, Diaz posted a photo of himself lifting weights with his injured leg.

Two bicep flex emojis along with two flames suggest the 25-year-old’s rehabilitation is going well. Please come back quickly, Luis. We miss you.

Liverpool desperately miss Diaz

It would probably be wrong to suggest that Liverpool’s recent slump is entirely due to injuries.

The Reds were in desperate shape long before Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota succumbed to long-term problems.

Either way, it’s absolutely clear that Liverpool are missing their two strikers. Without them, Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez are crushed.

With no top-class alternative options, Liverpool have become much easier to stop. It’s not that the Reds are predictable – they seem to adopt a different setup every game – it’s just that they seem to lack confidence and motivation.

When Jurgen Klopp’s five forwards are fit, it’s really only Mohamed Salah who is sure of his place in the squad.

The other four can be cut and modified to give Liverpool different dimensions in different games.

But now Firmino, Salah and Nunez know that they will continue to be part of the team, whatever their form. Klopp simply has no other choice. Unless he brings in someone like young Ben Doak, it will continue.

Thankfully, it looks like Diaz is on the right track. The World Cup break is perfect for Liverpool this season. Without it, Klopp would have to muddle through and mend for much longer than it will. Still, Diaz’s return and the energy he will bring can’t come soon enough.
