On Friday, three masked men hit a woman’s car with bats and swords and injured her as she drove to work at a drug rehabilitation center here at a local civilian hospital.
The incident happened on Kapurthala-Jalandhar trunk road near PUDA settlement, police said.
The woman, identified as Shaminder Kaur, told civilian hospital media here that she was driving from Jalandhar with her colleague to the drug rehabilitation centre.
“When we arrived near the PUDA settlement near the city, a white car chasing our car passed us and intercepted us and attacked our car with baseball bats and swords and smashed the windshield. They badly damaged the car and injured me,” she said, adding the attackers fled by car after the attack.
The other occupant of the car was not injured in the incident, she said.
Kapurthala civilian surgeon, Dr. Gurinder Bir Kaur, told PTI that Shaminder Kaur suffered injuries to the body and was out of danger.
Her forensic report was sent to the police for registration of the charges against the accused, she said.
Chief Superintendent of Police Navneet Singh said police have registered a case against the accused who has not yet been identified and further investigations are ongoing.
