Matt Duffy ‘Feels Good’, David Bote Begins Rehab Mission – NBC Chicago

Duffy and Bote take action to return to the Cubs originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago

As the Bear cubs Kicking off their post-All-Star break schedule on Friday, a pair of sidelined infielders continue to advance in their recoveries.

David Bote begins a rehab mission with Triple-A Iowa this weekend, following Matt Duffy, who began his rehab mission with Iowa earlier this week.

Bote and Duffy have been on the sidelines since the end of May. Bote achieved 10-day IL on May 30 with a dislocated left shoulder, five days after Duffy (lower back sprain). The Cubs then transferred Duffy to the 60 Day IL at the end of June.

Duffy went 1-for-4 in the Iowa game on Thursday, playing six innings on the field. He got a pair of hitters on Tuesday.

“We’re just trying to develop it the right way,” Cubs manager David Ross said of Duffy. “All signs point to good returns and he is feeling great.”

Cubs activate Eric Sogard

As Bote and Duffy continue to pile up, the Cubs activated infielder Eric Sogard out of the IL ahead of Friday’s game in Arizona.

Sogard, 35, spent the minimum time on the IL of 10 days, which he landed last Tuesday with a contusion to his left thumb.

With Thursday’s trade from Joc Pederson, the Cubs had a free spot on the active roster, so no matching move came with Sogard’s return.
