KUCHING (June 24): A drug rehabilitation center located in Jalan Puncak Borneo here has been declared one of Sarawak’s last Covid-19 clusters.
Nicknamed the Kilometer 23 Jalan Puncak Borneo Cluster, 28 infections were detected among 122 people screened linked to the cluster.
“A total of 28 were positive for Covid-19, including the index case, while 60 are still awaiting laboratory results,” added the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in its daily update today ‘hui.
The committee also declared three other new clusters today, namely the Jalan Setia Raja cluster in Kuching, the Sungai Separai cluster in Tatau and the Jalan Sungai Antu cluster in Sibu.
In total, 30 people linked to the Jalan Setia Raja cluster in Kuching were screened, 10 of whom tested positive for Covid-19.
“A total of 89 people from the Sungai Separai cluster in Tatau were screened and 33 people from the cluster tested positive”,
âRegarding the Jalan Sungai Antu cluster in Sibu, there were 35 individuals from the cluster that were screened and 24 individuals from the cluster tested positive,â SDMC said.
Meanwhile, SDMC also announced the end of five clusters, namely Sungai Ngungun cluster in Kanowit, Sebujok cluster in Sri Aman, Jelang cluster in Betong, Tebakang cluster in Serian and Jalan Sukma cluster in Kuching.
The state currently has 96 active clusters, including 16 with a total of 151 new Covid-19 cases today.
Of these, the Sungai Separai cluster in Tatau recorded the highest number of new cases with 29, followed by the Sungai Kotak cluster in Meradong (23) and the Sungai Antu cluster in Sibu (22).
