North Carolina Alcoholism Officers Arrest Nearly 300 In Crackdown | North Carolina News

RALEIGH, North Carolina (AP) – North Carolina alcohol law enforcement said it arrested nearly 300 people during operations at licensed alcoholic beverage companies and other locations in the part of a Halloween crackdown.

A press release from the Department of Public Security said state alcoholism officers working with local law enforcement officials arrested 286 people on 700 counts in the state. Officers executed 13 search warrants, seized guns and drugs, and made arrests on a mix of felony, alcoholic drink and drug charges.

Twenty-five licensed companies were found in violation of state laws and regulations. A Lenoir company lost its liquor license after officers determined employees were distributing drugs to customers, the statement said.

The agency has 108 agents statewide.

“Over the past week, ALE special agents have partnered with local, state and federal agencies to fight crime at North Carolina businesses that sell alcoholic beverages legally and illegally,” Bryan said. House, Director of Alcohol Law Enforcement. “We hope this operation, along with the continued efforts to educate business owners on responsible alcoholic beverage sales and crime prevention, will have a positive impact on the lives of all residents.”
