Opening of a new rehabilitation gymnasium at CHI Health St. Francis

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) – CHI Health Saint Francis is celebrating a new era for its physiotherapy center, after the opening of a new rehabilitation gymnasium of more than 800 square feet.

The $135,000 project began in September last year and today the hospital held an open house to allow the community to take a look at the new and improved facility.

A Saint Francis physiotherapist said the new facility will help keep patients close to their families.

“We are able to provide excellent service to patients who are close to home and don’t have to travel to Lincoln or Omaha with, with their families nearby for our complex patients who have had strokes or strokes,” Nicole says Morris. “We have a lot of patients who have hip fractures and we’re able to keep them home and closer to their families, which can help them recover better.”

An IRU patient says he is happy that the staff and the support they provide remain the same.

“It meant a lot. It’s like, for example, if you’re on a trip, you don’t have a map, it’s like someone tells you the way to go and where you’re going, what you might see. They are very helpful and supportive, they cared, cared a lot,” said CHI St. Francis rehabilitation patient Don Moeller.

The new unit also allows family, and even service dogs, to visit patients.
