Prime Minister reviews relief and rehabilitation activities in flood-affected areas

  • LAHORE: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a meeting on Saturday to review relief and rehabilitation activities for people in flood-affected areas.

The Prime Minister has issued special instructions to ensure an uninterrupted supply of edibles and relief items to those affected by the floods.

The prime minister instructed to extend special cooperation to provincial governments for the supply of edible and relief items so that problems encountered during relief activities can be resolved.

While noting the rise in food prices following the floods, Shehbaz Sharif ordered an immediate resolution of food pricing issues.

He gave instructions to strengthen the safety of those involved in relief activities and during the delivery of aid, in collaboration with provincial governments.

He ordered action to resolve complaints about cash aid deductions and the delivery of relief items to flood-affected people.

He asked the authorities to complete the assessment of the losses caused by the devastation of the floods as soon as possible.

Officials from the National Flood Response Coordination Center gave detailed information on restoration works in flood-affected areas across the country.

Minister of Economic Affairs Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Minister of Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar, Coordinator of the National Flood Response and Coordination Center Major Zafar Iqbal, President of the National Disaster Management Authority Lt. Gen. Akhtar Nawaz, provincial chief secretaries and senior officials attended the meeting.
